1. What are at least two legal issues associated with clinical psychology? What impact do these issues have on the field of clinical psychology?

One legal issue associated with clinical psychology would be psychological testing in the workplace. While most times they are used to ensure that the candidate will be a good fit and also will act with integrity, the information can then be used against the candidate. The candidate could later come back saying that they were discriminated against which could cause a lot of concern.

The other legal issue associated with clinical psychology is the use of forensic psychology. Forensic psychologists sometimes will evaluate a defendant and the information obtained can be used in their trial. It is highly important that these psychologists do not misinterpret any information given to them or it could potentially put someone innocent in jail or maybe even release someone who is guilty.

There are a lot of different situations that could arise in the field of clinical psychology, potentially creating a legal issue. This is why it is important for psychologists to always act ethically.

If the psychologist administering their services to someone else is simotaneously experiencing a personality disorder that can hinder their ability to properly treat someone. For example, if the psychologist is suffering from depression, they may not feel as though they really want to help someone else or may be distracted and in turn not be able to pay full attention to what the client is telling them. Also, sometimes people who are suffering from depression will feel the need to latch on to someone or create personal relationships. It is extemely important that a practitioner does not have a personal relationship with their client because it can hinder their ability to properly treat the...
