Paradise, Part I

As a new member to the team I was asked to develop a plan, this being Part I of that plan, in which will help our organization create a presence on the island of Kava. This plan will discuss a few areas of opportunities and concerns that we have in conjunction with developing a few new offices. And address some decision making processes that we will take to resolve those areas of opportunity and concern.

The island of Kava is located in the South Pacific with a population of fifty-percent of its people under the age of 15 years old. It has an indigenous group of inhabitants that are a mix of Spanish, French, Asian, African and American. The island of Kava has three different languages (English, Spanish, and French) and a variety of different religions (Christian, Buddhist, and Islamic).

Our organization’s main concern is whether we can establish a new office on the island of Kava; and based on the natural disasters that plague the island (tidal waves/tsunamis, hurricanes, floods, fires, earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, and tornadoes) as well as health risks (avian flu, HIV/AIDS) will the organization flourish? We want to be able to create a powerful and important force in Kava.

It is difficult to want to establish a new work force on an island which is filled with natural and health disasters. We may not want to have expensive properties located throughout the island and expand due to the cost of renovation and ongoing insurance prices that can occur due to all the natural disasters that plague the island. Health risks are another concern due to small medical centers and clinics. The level of patient care and medical supplies is not of the level that we would find in a vast country.

Also it does not help our situation when half of the population is under the age of 15. We are unsure of what the labor laws are in Kava and that can pose as a potential problem to our organization. Employing children that are not of...
