Part II:
Letter:
Dear Store Managers:
Due to an unforeseen increase of operating costs and rising gas, our company must amend store policy regarding employee work hours. In an effort to decrease these rising costs, we will be amending store hours. Stores will now be closed on Sundays. Also, all other workdays will be abbreviated by two hours. Stores will be open one hour later than usual and close one hour earlier. The new store hours are from 8:00 am to 6:00 pm. Coping with this new schedule will take effort on the part of all employees. You, as managers, must lead the way and will be required to work 10-hour days four days of the week. Only working four days each week will allow you to save money on gas and will give your more free time to spend with your family or to pursue other interests.
These changes to our store policies will have a positive effect on all stakeholders. They will allow our company to grow and be more productive in the future and will create greater career opportunities for employees in the future. Cutting costs will allow us to keep serving our customers in the way they are accustomed to be served, and we will not have to increase prices for our products. Keeping our loyal customers will allow for our continued success in the retail business.
This policy is effective at the beginning of next month. Please contact me if you have any questions regarding these changes. I will be happy to review them with you and provide all necessary guidance.
Sincerely,
Public Relations Manager
