To Drill or Not to Drill?

I would have to agree with Barack Obama that it would be great to be able to help the averment my making clean coal. Also to be able to use solar power to help power the tools we will be using. But on the same hand that to be able to do these things it would take a lot of money which we don’t have. Our economy these days is so poor we would almost completely put us in debt. Now if we keep drilling off the golf coast we take the risk of the same thing happening now with the oil spill. Actually, the politicians pushing to drill in Alaska and off the Gulf Coast have the same basic goal in mind, to lessen our dependence on foreign oil, so that part of your premise is a little faulty. Most of those are also pushing to increase the use of nuclear energy as part of the plan, which the Obama administration is not in favor of for some reason. If ANWR had been opened in 1995, it would have been on line for 5 years now, cutting our need for foreign oil by about 20% per year. Instead, it is at least 10 years away from production, even if it was approved today. Alternative energy is great, expect for the major fact that none of it is truly a viable option for today. Despite those that rant against it, Green technology is expanding and is a growing trend. There is a lot of oil undiscovered and a lot is already discovered but not pumped. It is rapidly losing popularity as it becomes more and more expensive to drill, pump and to refine. Clean coal is a somewhat misleading phrase. It is not actually clean; it is burned in a cleaner manner. So after all this being said I would agree with Obama on this one. Some things that are hindering my thinking when looking at it threw my opposing people would be that how are we going to be able to afford to do anything Obama wants to do when we are so far in debt to begin with.
