Remote Access Policy A. GENERAL This policy is intended to operate in conjunction with the County Board approved Acceptable Use for Electronic Communications component of the Code of Ethics Policy. The County recognizes the importance of utilizing technology to increase employee productivity, improve employee satisfaction, reduce employee absenteeism, and provide greater employee access to data throughout the county. The effective use of technology to promote the mission of Itasca County may require that staff be able to access data and information from remote locations. To accomplish that, the County supports remote access as a tool for County employees, as deemed appropriate by their Department Manager. The County’s Remote Access program is intended to be a County employee service that benefits the County, constituents, and employees. B. DEFINITIONS 1. Remote Access - communication with the Itasca County network system and applications from a remote location or facility through a secure, Itasca County assigned/approved data link. 2. Remote Access Employee – an employee, as a part of their regular job description, requires work to be done at a remote work site, rather than at an Itasca County owned or leased office space, who has been approved for remote access status by the department head and has successfully completed the county’s remote access training program. 4. Itasca County Acceptable Use for Electronic Communications component of the Code of Ethics Policy - A document that describes the county’s electronic security requirements and details employee’s responsibilities when using County owned equipment and systems. 5. Core Hours – those hours during which the employee must be available for contact. 6. Remote Access Agreement – a document, signed by the remote access employee, Department Manager and MIS Manager, that describes specific obligations and terms agreed to between the employee, department head and the Itasca County MIS Manager. 7....
