What affects our water resources? According to Wiley, 2011 water resource problems falls under three categories: too much water, too little water and poor water quality. Many Americans take water for granted and often waste it because it is right at our finger tips. However clean drinking water is scarce and many countries do not have the resources to obtain better water sanitation. Contaminated water supply can stem from people dumping garbage into the sewer or natural disasters. When we throw trash and other debris in our sewer system it produces pollution which can contaminate our water supply. There are many problems that poor water sanitation can cause, to include health defects, diseases and other medical conditions and sometimes death.

In this paper I will discuss various water contamination and lack of sanitation with our water resources. How nonliving and living factors that contribute to or are affected by the problem. What are the positive and negative human impacts if any? I will evaluate current sustainability strategies and solutions. Also present my own sustainability and mitigation plan to include any benefits or limitations from this plan. Will there be any global, government and societal support required for my plan?

Water contamination can come from different sources, nonliving and living factors. Some nonliving factors include arsenic, pesticides, lead, zinc and many other hazardous chemicals. A lot of these chemicals can affect the lungs and skin. Lead can cause damage to the kidneys and nervous system. Zinc can cause muscle pain and stiffness, also nausea, diarrhea and loss of appetite (www.waterdrs.com, 2009). According to clean water action, (n.d.) many common chemicals and pollutants have already been linked to rising rates of asthma, cancer and heart conditions. There are also agents that cause diseases such as bacteria, viruses and parasitic worms. These disease causing agents comes from human waste that have been infected....
