“Thomas Green: Power, Office Politics, and a Career in Crisis” discusses the underlying aspects of ruthlessness in business and the various tactics people will use to climb the corporate ladder. Opening with a background on Thomas Green, who works for Dynamic Displays, a self-service provider to banks, the paper begins with Green making the assumption that a fellow peer was out to cause him to lose his job based on certain events that occurred on a typical work day.

The paper then goes into a lengthy description of Dynamic Displays, its foundation and the success it has achieved since inception. Segwaying into a discussion on Thomas Green, the paper discusses his background in great detail in an effort for the reader to sympathize with Green’s background.

It would appear from the use of language about Green’s first visit to Dynamic Displays that he was indeed the perfect job candidate. “Senior executives at Dynamic Displays quickly took notice of Green’s performance and were eager to strengthen his relationship with the company. In July 2007, Green attended a week-long training session at corporate headquarters. Shannon McDonald, the division vice president, and Mary Jacobs, the national sales director, made a concerted effort to get to know him better. Green and McDonald were both University of Georgia alumni and Georgia natives. They had an instant connection, and McDonald seemed to take Green under her wing.” (Sasser and Beckham, 2008)
