Similarities and Differences of the Concept of God between Hinduism, Daoism, and Christianity.

This essay will examine the concept of God among Hinduism, Daoism, and Christianity, and compare and contrast them. Brahman is the highest God of Hinduism, Dao is the concept of God for Daoism, and there is the Hebrew Christian God. Although it is an issue to identify whether Daoism’s God is the Dao, but this essay assume it is. This essay compares a few of the characteristics among the three Gods, including whether they are monotheism or polytheism God; whether God is separated from human or a part of human; and whether God has personality, and has special interest in human affairs. Both Brahman and Dao are polytheism God that resides within in people, but Christian God does not; both Brahman and Christian God contain human personalities and have special interest in human affairs, such as providing moral guidance, Dao does not. Dao and Christian God seem to be very different two concept of God, while Brahman is at the middle ground between Dao and Christian God, with some qualities that are similar to Dao and some other qualities similar to Christian God.

Brahman accept polytheism. There are many Gods in Hindu such as the Trimurti Gods. They are Brahma, Vishnu, and Shiva, each carrying distinctive type of force, they are forces of creation, preservation, and destruction. However these three Gods are all manifestation of one single sacred reality, since our world, or Brahman, is operating based on these three forces. On the other hand, Dao is also a polytheist God. Dao is the mysterious entity that creates and governs the world, and that nature is operated based on the two complementary forces of Yin and Yang. Dao really does not care whether a person believes Dao or not, and it does not care if a person believes in other Gods.
