One example in the article that that shows the importance of the private security industry is that private security officers should focus more on the safety of the public as well as the constitutional rights of individuals. Negative attention has surrounded the private security industry because a large majority of officers put the needs of their employer before the needs of those they are employed to protect. Not only are the employees of these private security companies looked upon negatively but even the community members where private security exists.

A negative image can have drastic impacts on the security of any community. When private security officers conduct themselves in an unprofessional manner or one that is unbecoming they do not have a good rapport within that community. That then causes community members to not put their faith and trust in those officials and less cooperative as well. Being uncooperative can also lead to anti-social behaviors which in the long run will cause greater concern for additional private security.

If private security companies would take a little bit of time and effort to allow simple training in addition to their mandatory training, they would have the tools to better handle the task at hand. Because this job is not necessarily a low stress one, if an incentive program is offered or a bonus program; employees may have a better morale at work and perform better. This would improve the ways that the security personnel were looked at within the community. When security or law enforcement do one thing negative people tend to remember it over ten good things that are done; when security professionals are looked at in a positive manner their presence is known and there becomes less of a need for them. Additionally, if security personnel are well trained it reduces the numbers in job turnaround; assuring that the ones that are being entrusted to protect are the most qualified for the job.
