My CAM

Prior to our studies, and possessing little knowledge of Complimentary Alternative Medicines, my stigma - based belief of such practice fell into the category of taboo medicines. Fortunately having the opportunity recently CAM with a more open non-bias perception led me to gain some new fond interests. My outlooks of this promising form of medical treatment have changed. Although my use of herbal treatments and use of natural dietary supplements is vast, the considerations for procedure such as acupuncture or chiropractic care are still being debated. I consider these forms of alternative medicine risky procedures which today for me seem a little evasive. The rumors of these practices being temporary fixes still reside in my mind; therefore, my decision to abstain from such treatment stand forth. Stigmas, which reside over these treatments either are addictive or, “ snake oil remedies,” has lessened my trust in such alternative. On the other hand, for years taking supplements is the only alternative for particular physiological changes sought. Many people feel better, and are better, when they take vitamin supplements, but the difficulty has been to prove this to the satisfaction of cynical, doubting doctors constrained by the disciplines...
