I- Introduction:

Emirates Airlines is one of the fastest growing airlines in the world and one of the youngest flying the skies. The Airline was born 25 years ago as an international airline of the UAE, and it started off in Dubai and flew out with only two aircrafts on October 25th, 1985, which involved just “a leased Boeing 737 and an airbus 300 B4”. Since then, it has grown into one of the largest airlines of the Middle East and has become a true and recognized global player in the worldwide airline industry. Emirates Airlines has won numerous awards of excellence since it was established. Al Maktoum Family is to be credited for much of the Airline’s success and much of the entire Emirates’ success due to its ambitious strategy of re-inventing Dubai as a modern hub for tourism and commerce in the Middle East.

Emirates Airlines is part of the Emirates Group, with a turnover of approximately US$ 12 billion and over 40,000 employees. The group consists of an airline division (Emirates Airlines), an aircraft maintenance division (Emirates Engineering), a cargo division (SkyCargo), a holiday division (Emirates Holidays), and an aviation college and a transguard division (Emirates Transguard).

Emirates Airlines’ main goal from the beginning was to attain quality and not quantity. The government of Dubai initially made an investment in the company and looked at it as a purely independent business entity. Till to date the growth of Emirates Airlines has never been below 20 percent yearly. One of the major factors leading to the success of this airline company was the competitive environment created by the government of Dubai to encourage innovation and promote creativity. This policy has helped the carrier become of the world’s most admired airlines.
