There are many demographics that a person can discuss that are taking place at this very moment in time. I thought about what demographics I could discuss and many came to my mind but one really stuck with me. The demographic that I am going to discuss is patients with AIDS. This is becoming a very popular demographic because people are being unsafe and not cautious and more and more people are getting affected. AIDS is Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome and is a disease of the human immune system caused by the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV).

When it comes to the statistics about AIDS, you have to think worldwide. That means that you have to include the USA, Africa, Canadian, Latin America and Caribbean, Asian, Australian, and European. I am going to discuss only the statistics in the USA. Globally there are 33.3 million people that have HIV/AIDS with adults having 30.8 million, women 15.9 million, and children 2.5 million. This is only at the end of 2009 so imagine what it is like today with more people finding out. In the USA, it has been estimated that more than one million people are living with HIV and more than one half a million have died after developing AIDS. At the end of 2009, there was an estimate of 42,959 new diagnoses of HIV and that includes forty states and the five dependent areas. Some people would say that it comes from being with too many sexual partners but that’s not true. The main transmission was from male to male at seventy four percent, heterosexual at fourteen percent, and injection use at eight percent. With the male to male transmission, that includes the men that were married sleeping with men and going back to their wives or just men period sleeping with women. When it comes to race, Blacks and African Americans at fifty percent, whites at twenty seven percent, and Hispanics and Latinos at nineteen percent....
