Founded in 1866, the Nestle Corporation has been providing consumers good, nutritious food for more than 140 years. Throughout the global operations of Nestle Inc., management anticipates changes from internal and external factors to affect the four functions of management including planning, organizing, leading, and controlling. As the global management team plans, organizes, leads, and controls the operations, factors such as globalization, technology, innovation, diversity, and ethics influence how managers make decisions, implement plans, and control performance. The use of delegation by Nestle managers strengthens the affected functions of management through distributing the authority and responsibility to handle various divisions throughout its operations.

Internal and External factors play important roles in the success or failure of an organization like Nestle. Thus the understanding and awareness of the effects of internal and external environments is important for shareholders and top-level managers of Nestle.   External factors that affect Nestle are growth development of the environment, the state of the global economy, and the ever-changing direction of the economy.  Internal factors that would influence management within Nestle are the creation of jobs, human rights risk, business principles, and innovative ideas.   Understanding internal and external factors in the environment of that particular business means to analyze that environment.
