Part A-1: After reviewing these sites and others you may choose, write 800-1000 words describing how RFIDs may help improve efficiencies in operating environments.

Radio frequency identification or RFIDs is commonly used for technologies that use radio waves to automatically identify people and objects. Most RFIDS include two parts: one is to store and process information and the 2nd one is an antenna for receiving and transmitting signals. It is either applied to or incorporated into a product.

RFID has many applications i.e. it is used for supply chain management to better the efficiency of inventory tracking and management. For payment solutions, phone companies are now adding payments cards to mobile phones that are linked to users’ bank accounts. Governments, too, use RFIDs for traffic management while many automotive companies use these applications for product management. Assets can now be managed through RFID technology combined with mobile computing. These tools allow organizations to monitor their assets and then make management decisions from anywhere in the world.

Secondly, checkouts can be completed with a quick scan of all items in cart, reducing point-of-sale labor costs. Also, it is vital for companies to keep accurate inventory records and with RFIDs implemented products; inventory errors can be decreased to identify the actual inventory available. Not only that, they also improve forecasting and planning because of tracking inventory and to find out what is happening to it throughout the supply chain. It also helps lessen losses...
