Hello, my name is Jessica; I am a fairly student to Axia College at University of Phoenix. I began in November 2010, prior to that I had not been in school since December 1996, where I attended 3 semesters at local Community College before my life changed forever. Therefore, naturally I feel like I am starting all over. However, now that I have completed 4 courses I feel that being back in school is not nearly as bad as I thought it might be. I am really excited and still a little nervous about being back to school, but I am 100% determined to receive a college degree before my oldest child graduates high school in just over 4 years. I love the flexibility of the program that Axia online has to offer and how it will help with my needs as a career mom.
I have two children who are in the beginning stages of their teenage years. I love the attitudes! Reminds me of the days when I thought I knew it all too. My oldest is 13 and in the 8th grade and my youngest is in the 6th grade and is 12. It’s amazing how fast they grow! If I could have one magical power it would be to rewind or stop time every now and then.
Although I was born in Iowa, I was raised in Texas. I currently work as a Medicaid Billing Specialist for University of Texas Medical Branch. I have worked in the medical field for the last ten years, starting at the bottom of the totem pole and working my way up. I cannot see myself working in any other field.
My first goal with Axia College at University of Phoenix is to receive my Associates of Arts degree with a concentration of Health Care Administration, then moving on to my Bachelor’s. I love to learn new things and find that I am generally what you would call a “quick learner”. I prefer hands on rather than listening to someone lecture in front of a pull pit, which is why I chose OLS.
For fun, I enjoy spending time with my family and friends going camping, spending time in the pool or just hanging out on the back patio...
