I. Short Summary

“All of life is a coming home.” The starting line of the movie Patch Adams.

Hunter Adams voluntarily committed himself into a mental institution. Once there, he finds that helping the patients gives him a purpose in life. In this situation, he enrolled in the Virginia Medical University and vows to become doctor someday. In the university, he met friends that became as his companion. On the academic side, some rules didn’t fit his passion to help so he didn’t waste the chance to fulfill his dream. He still visits the hospital even though he is just in his first year.

Although his efforts seem to work wonders and the hospital nursing staff is grateful for the levity Adams provides, his methods alienate his uptight roommate Mitch as well as the staff and faculty of his school. Adams perseveres, however, even starting his own low-cost rural clinic called the Gesundheit Institute, and wooing a pretty fellow student, Carin. Tragedy strikes, Carin was killed by a patient from Adam’s clinic and Adams' career is put in jeopardy, forcing him to defend his style and philosophy before a board of jurists determined to bar him from practicing medicine. .

In the end, Adam defended his side and fight for his principles. He lose everything but still gained everything. He was allowed to finish his course. Adam was now a doctor. He fulfilled his dream and continue his desire.
