1.     What are the different forms of social media that exist today? Provide examples of different social media and their primary purposes.

 The different forms of social media that exist today are television, newspaper, radio, movies, magazines, and the internet. Newspapers such as the Washington Post are supposed to inform the public about news, sports, and other social topics. The television has programs such as the news and talk shows that report and comment on the news topics of the day. The internet has all types of websites such as CNN.com that reports the news and other sites that report their opinion on the news. Radio has stations such as NPR that carries talk shows that try to influence people’s decisions on political and social views.

2.     What are the greatest benefits of social media for individuals and society?

 The greatest benefits of social media for both individuals and society are that they can both communicate to the masses. Politicians can tell their views to all the voters from one site instead of having to go to every town and sometimes door to door. Reporters can report the news from the site and the viewers can see what those reporters are talking about. People can voice their opinions and talk to others that share their opinions or argue with those that do not share their opinion even if they are a million miles apart.

3.     What are the greatest problems of social media for individuals and society?

 The biggest problems of social media for individuals and society are that some people that write or report to society can be influenced by outside sources. Individuals must investigate what they hear or see in order to know if it is actually true or not.
