Introduction

Sponsorship is the act of providing support to an organization, a person or a club in relation to finances or equipment that would assist the particular party in executing its tasks effectively. Sports organizations are a good example of parties that require sponsorship. This is where the aspect of commercial sponsorship of sports comes into play. It basically implies to the way sponsors provide financial aid to these sporting organizations. Many countries rely on sport as a way of boosting their economic status. This is the reason why the aspect of supporting the activity financially becomes of great significance both to the members of the society and the entire nation. Research has revealed that there has been an increase in the programs associated with commercial sponsorship of sporting programs. Commercial sponsorship of sports has many benefits to the parties involved and the society as well.

Another benefit derived from the commercial sponsorship of sporting activities is that it acts as a support to sport education. Most academic institutions have sporting education incorporated into their curriculum. Sport has become an important activity because despite being a lesson it has become a source of income to some people (Slack 2003). Commercial sponsorship has therefore enhanced the running of these lessons through provision of finances to purchase the equipment required. Students are therefore in a better position to learn and acquire knowledge in different sporting activities without any hustle.
