DESIGNING COMPENSATION SYSTEMS AND EMPLOYEE BENEFITS
1. Describe the difference between job analysis and job evaluation and how these practices help establish internally consistent job structure.
In order to differentiate job analysis vice job evaluation, you must understand what both structures mean. A job analysis is initiated to assess the current positions within an organization as well as to determine the job content. This includes any and all tasks, the conditions to perform those tasks, as well as the skills needed to include objectives and methods. A job evaluation is implemented to judge the scope and value of one job in relation to other positions.
Job analysis and job evaluation are an essential processes in order for human resource professionals to accurately assess the substance of a specific position within an organization. Job evaluation should be completed after the job analysis. Human resources professionals will perform an assessment of the job factors to determine the scope and importance of each position.
This is conducted through implementing a rank, point or classification system based on the factors that were assessed during the job analysis. The point system is predominately used in organizations today. Jobs are valued in monetary terms and points are awarded based on various factors of compensation for that position.
In brief, the job analysis will adequately assist the human resources staff in developing accurate job descriptions. These practices will help establish internally consistent job structure if done accurately as well as help the staff to conduct employee evaluations, future reclassification and employee recruitment.

Additionally, job evaluation benefits the organization in developing a competitive salary scale that will attract talented candidates but retain them as well.
2. Describe the challenges in developing compensations that are both internally consistent and market competitive.
