I am from havanna cuba and I am going to talk today about the government of cuba, the visa lottery, what was the hardest thing for me and my family to get use to when arriving in the u.s, also how was it like moving to the use, and the food I have brought in today.

As you may know the government of cuba is run by a dictator called Fidel Castro. Unlike the u.s in cuba we don’t have freedom of speech for example here in the u.s if you don’t like what the president is doing you can say what you feel he is doing wrong without getting in trouble in cuba you get caught saying things like that you get send to jail. One of the reasons why my parents wanted to move to the u.s besides providing me and my brother with an opportunity to a better future was because at the age of fifteen you automatically have to join the military and at the time my brother was about to turn fifteen, luckily my parents applied for a visa lottery. The way that work is you fill out an application and there are a certain thousands of people who get the chance to get interview and after that interview they decided if you are qualified to come to the united states. One of the qualifications they require you to have is, if you was or currently are in the military or working for any type of job that links to fidel you are automatically rejected. Once they interview you they will let you know the same day if you are eligible to come. We was one the lucky people who got the chance to come to the u.s. and I have to tell you I am proud to be born in cuba and I was to be born again I would like to be born in cuba again but saying that I really like it hear. Coming to the u.s was a great at first I was expecting a lot of things like really fast cars and cool toys and many other things, but I was nervous of the fact that I had to learn a new language I was only seven years old at the time and thought it was going to be hard.
