Is Batman A Superhero or Not?

When you were a child, were you inspired by stories of knights, supermen and courageous men and women who did wonderful things and changed the world around them? They were your heroes. You looked up to them, didn't you? And you admired them and read stories about them late into the night? Weren't you inspired by their courage and hoped you could grow up brave and strong? Weren't you thrilled by their exploits and their charisma? Well, has anyone here who doesn’t know Batman? I must say none of you.

Batman is a fictional character created by the artist Bob Kane and writer Bill Finger. In the original version of the story and the vast majority of retellings, Batman's secret identity is Bruce Wayne, an American millionaire (later billionaire) playboy, industrialist, and philanthropist. Having witnessed the murder of his parents as a child, he swore revenge on crime, an oath tempered with the greater ideal of justice. Wayne trains himself both physically and intellectually and dons a bat -themed costume in order to fight crime. Batman operates in the fictional American Gotham City, assisted by various supporting characters including his crime-fighting partner, Robin, his butler Alfred Pennyworth, the police commissioner Jim Gordon, and occasionally the heroine Batgirl. He fights an assortment of villains such as the Joker, the Penguin, Two-Face, and Poison Ivy and Cat woman. 

Superheroes typically depicted as having super-human powers- is this true? Batman has been criticized because he has no superhuman powers- but he has characteristics that most common people don’t possess. Thesis explained why Batman is a superhero; it is due to his knowledge, intellect and desire to help others. But do we know what a superhero is?

Superhero in its connotative meaning is a fictional hero having extraordinary or superhuman powers; also: an exceptionally skilful or successful person.
