Ethic Awareness Inventory

According to Merriam Webster Dictionary ethics is defined as a discipline that is associated with doing what is good and right, within the context of moral duty and obligation. Ethics also can be defined as a fixed group of moral principles used to govern our society. Though ethics is defined, the ramification that may occur makes it hard to decipher. As a society we strive to live an ethical life; however achieving this task can prove to be a very difficult one at best. We try to respect our parents and others who are considered our elders. We attempt to follow the moral standards set by our peers even when they contradict our own. Oftentimes we struggle with many of the standards set by family, friends, and our society, mainly because they tend to leave others unwanted hurts. In this paper we will attempt to examine the importance of understanding one’s own personal ethical perspective and the differences between personal and professional ethics in psychology. Our society is constantly evolving and so does our ethically nature and personal beliefs. What was expectable 10, 15 or 20 years ago may not be acceptable now. Although we try to live a life of sound ethical values and principals, we are sometimes left with feelings of regret and disappointment, mainly because our moral judgment or our ability to distinguish between right and wrong has been shaken.

Personal Ethical Perspective

The EAI or Ethics Awareness Inventory is an instrument that calculates a person’s personal perspective on his or her ethical nature. This inventory or analysis is composed of a series of questions, which is ranked from the most agreed to the least agreed.
