Dear Sir/Madam,

Business Loss Due to Hotel Construction

With regard to the matter above, I, (name) as the owner of restaurant (name) in Ampang Jaya, am writing to your attention on the recent hotel construction behind my business premise that caused severe loss to the business.

My seafood restaurant has been operating in the vicinity for more than five years. It has been the favourite dining place in Ampang Jaya, especially the residents around the area as they are the regular patrons of my restaurant. However, until the recent two months, the drop in customers is observed and I am facing excruciating business loss due to low profit to cover up the expenses. The losses were RM 20,000 and RM 35,000 respectively for the two consecutive months. After thorough investigations and communications with our customers, we found that the reason behind this is the ongoing construction of a new hotel at the back of my restaurant since three months ago.

The construction site has been continuously bombarded my business premise with loud, unbearable sounds of excavating, drilling and foundation laying of the hotel. Because the construction is on the rush, they operated 24-7 continuously for the last three months. For this reason, my regular customers have since refused to dine in and some unwilling even to come near to my restaurant due to the sounds and smokes emitted by the construction trucks. The smoke and sounds also affect the businesses of other shops nearby as well as residents who live there.

I have always heard that the Department of Environment is a caring and attentive unit in our area. Hence, I hope that appropriate actions could be taken, such as limiting the constructing time of the hotel or reducing...
