Legal, Safety, and Regulatory Requirements

Every organization’s Human Resources (HR) department has the responsibility to ensure that legal, safety, and regulatory requirements are implemented within the structure of the company. HRM must comply with employee-related regulations enforced by federal agencies to make sure that all employees civil rights and workplace safety are being met on a daily basis. If employers fail to facilitate and abide by HR laws, substantial financial liabilities can occur which may result in a negative image being portrayed on the organization as well as a damaged reputation . Throughout this paper, the author will examine various laws and safety regulations that are imposed by federal agencies and the effects they have on the human resource process.

Employee Legal Rights

Discrimination against employees is a major problem that faces different organizations every year. As a result, employers are faced with considerably large financial litigation battles that typically involve awarding the winning plaintiffs or victims a sum of money ranging from $50,000 to $300,000, depending on the size of the company Chp 3. In order to protect employees and avoid these costly lawsuits, government laws and agencies were formed, which resulted in HR departments implementing various policies and strategies to reduce the incidence of the immoral act of discrimination.
