An organization such as Google can be affected by different leadership styles, and the different sources of power within the organization. Motivational theories can affect the culture and communication of an organization. The commitment of the workforce at Google can also affect the organization. Organizational communication can be affected by each of them.

Each of the different leadership styles would affect the group communication within Google in different ways. The different styles are charismatic, transformational, and transactional. Google is unique in their approach to leadership style. The style at Google closely fits the transformational style of leadership in many ways. The first way that this is true is there is a clear vision and sense of mission provided by Larry Page, Sergey Brin, and Eric Schmidt who are the top three executives at Google. The three also communicate high expectations and important purpose in simple ways (Robbins & Judge, 2007). As transformational leaders, they encourage the employees to be more creative and to be more innovative. They use goals as one of the key mechanisms to help the employees to accomplish this. The three top executives also show transformational leadership by instilling in the employees the ability to question established views (Robbins & Judge, 2007). With this type of leadership the communication is usually creative and open. This is promoted by the weekly meetings held by the top executives with the employees. With very few solo offices the communication among the different employees in a group is done with more ease then if the employees had to be in solo offices
