If you are like most Americans, you probably have to deal with stress issues related to having a “hectic schedule” or living a “fast-paced lifestyle.” Consequently, if you fail to listen to your body, you may find yourself dealing with several health problems relating to stress. (Govindan). According to Arne Anderson, everyone needs or requires a certain level of stress; however, one must know their limitations. People should become familiar with stress signals. Unfortunately, if these signals are ignored over a long period of time, the effects of stress can be fatal (Anderson).

The business venture that I am interested in starting is a day spa. According to Entrepreneur Magazine, “With everybody leading such busy and stress-filled lives these days, starting a day spa business is an excellent choice for a new business venture.” Although one must expect to invest a significant amount for startup and operation costs, the earning possibilities are practically endless (Entrepreneur). Day spas are becoming increasingly trendy because guests are now able to get the same benefits as a “traditional spa” in a shorter amount of time. A day spa is the definitely the place to go to get rejuvenated whenever your body needs to be energized (Bergamos).

The spa industry continues to be a growing industry that generates billions of dollars per year in revenue. According International Spa Association, there was a twenty five percent growth in spa visits from 2006 to 2007, an annual revenue growth of sixteen percent from 2000 to 2007 and an annual employment growth of thirty one percent from 2007 to 2008 (International Spa Association).

The selected name for my business will be ReNued Energy and the location will be in Houston, Texas. According to Forbes, “Houston has opportunity and a person or business moving there gets an immediate raise through lower taxes and cheaper real estate. It just works better at nurturing jobs” (Kotkin).
