4. A formal organization is the official, legitimate, and most visible part that enables people to think of organizations in logical and rational ways. An example of the formal part of the organization is the policies and procedures, job descriptions, products and services, goals and objectives, etc. An informal organization is the unofficial and less visible part of the system. An example of the informal part of an organization is the values, perceptions and attitudes, belief and assumptions, feelings, etc.

1. The formal aspects of the work environment affect me because this is the guidelines by which we go by. Making sure we follow the policies and procedures make the organization better and more effective. The informal aspects that are important include having an open dialogue with your manager, and having a good work relationship with your fellow employees.

4. A way to learn about an organizations behavior is to talk with employees. Employees will give you their honest opinion about the organization. Another way is to study the organization. Do as much research as possible to learn about the policies and procedures as well as the organizations beliefs.
