Teambuilding is Essential in Today’s Business World and Communication is a Key Role in its Development

Abstract

Creating team based groups in the work place has become increasingly popular. Teams make up the workforce in companies large and small. This is because many managers find teams offer more advantages and produce better outcomes than that of individuals assigned to the same tasks. By utilizing recruitment methods set up to identify essential team skills, many companies benefit from obtaining the right fit with employees that have the knowledge skills and abilities to create successful teams. The purpose of this study was to explore the relationship between team training, team development and, mentoring, to produce highly functional teams. In a survey conducted in a work environment that is dependent on team development the results found that individuals with mentors held necessary team qualities such as; problem solving, effective communication, conflict resolution, and planning skills. Additionally, the longer an individual worked in a team environment the more likely they were to become mentors for others within these peer groups. Other studies that were researched provide evidence that a company’s team management can aide in improving productivity, enhancing creativity and improving decision making.

To create efficient teams it is important to focus a great deal of effort on how a team communicates. When individuals communicate well together it eliminates misunderstandings. When messages are received correctly the outcomes for proper actions is more likely to occur and team goals are better accomplished.
