When writing a paper there are many challenges that the writer might face. The individual’s ability to overcome these obstacles is what I believe makes the person a good writer. There are three major challenges that I face when writing. My first and biggest error is the habit that I have in using repetitive writing. This is a very common mistake in college writing, especially if you do not have a large vocabulary or have been out of school for a long time, like me. The second error that I face is choosing the proper topic sentence. I struggle with making sure that my topic sentence appeals to my intended audience. Choosing a topic sentence is the very first step in writing a paper, and therefore one of the most important steps. If the topic sentence is lacking or hard to understand, the rest of the paragraph or paper will also be lacking and hard to understand. This will cause the reader to become confused about what they are reading and lose interest. The third challenge I have as a writer is the ability to have each individual part of my paper flow with the other parts. This is caused by a substance lacking topic sentence or a misuse of English language. This not only confuses the reader, as mentioned above but also can easily confuse the writer as well, in turn, causing the entire paper to lack a rhythm and flow.

As with any problem or challenge in life, there is almost always a solution. In writing, there are always challenges and with these challenges, there are many solutions. To fix some of my problems as a writer, I have to first identify them, as I have done in the paragraph above. I believe that my problems in writing can easily be fixed by slowing down my writing process and taking the time thoroughly think out what I am writing about. Fixing the problem with repetitive writing is as simple as consulting a thesaurus throughout my writing process and learning words that keep my reader captivated with my piece.
