In this paper I will discuss and argue the position of the legalization of marijuana. I hope to deliver and unbiased argument for both sides so as to show that facts of facts and help to reader to make an educated decision.

Claim 1

“Smoking a marijuana cigarette sediment more or less three to five times additional tar into the lungs relatively one filtered cigarette. Smoking three to four joints daily, bringing about like as much damage to the respiratory system the same as smoking a full pack of cigarettes every day. Marijuana smoke contains 50 to 70 percent further carcinogenic hydrocarbons to a certain extent tobacco smoke.” ( Elon, 2006)

In truth scientific studies of marijuana have proven that it is not toxic to human beings and that it is pretty much impossible to over dose on the substance. Statistics prove that more people die from guns, alcohol, prescription drugs, and even peanut butter than marijuana. Few deaths can actually be proven to have been contributed to by marijuana. Also it is proven that alcohol and tobacco are more addictive and less safe than marijuana, according to Hubpages, n.d.

Claim 2

One study claims that “accident records from one study showed that up to 12% of non-fatally injured drivers and up to 16% of fatally injured drivers had marijuana in their bloodstream.” (Elon, 2006). Also according to Elon, 2006, marijuana users suffer 55% more industrials accidents and have been shown to have 78% more absenteeism than non-users.

I person many test positive for marijuana use for more than thirty days after the use of marijuana, this can mean that if a person tests positive that does not be that they are under the influence of marijuana. There for these finds may be inaccurate, because these statistics may not prove that the people who were tested were actually under the influence of marijuana.
