Pursuit of Happiness: Thomas I Bernsen

The dictionary defines auto as “self; same; of or by the same one: autobiography.” The online site define.com states bio is “the written history of a person’s life.” Dictionary.net defines graphy as “A suffix denoting the art of writing or describing; also, the writing or description itself; a treatise; as, calligraphy, biography, geography.” Yourdictionary.com explains “An autobiography is someone's life story written by that person.” An autobiography is a reflection of one self. It is our happiness, our sadness, and our personal experiences all composed into a written story. It is important for yourself to know who you are; however, it is more important to be able to reflect and share your story with another human being. This autobiography will share with you my past, my present, and my future; the story about my life and my pursuit of happiness.

On March, 20, 1990 in St. Louis Missouri I was born into this world. A fairly average baby I came out weighing seven pounds and twenty one ounces. My mother and father were both very happy and loving parents. Including me they had three children together in the span of ten years. Me being the baby of the family, I had two siblings consisting of one older brother and one older sister. Although I was born in St. Louis, I spent most of my childhood in a small town known as Iberia. This town is a very small community, but it made it seem as if everyone living there was family. At the age of five my parents began fighting a lot and ultimately ended up getting a divorce. In court my mom gained custody of me and my older sister; while my dad gained custody of my older brother. I was devastated by this due to the fact that I would never get to see my brother or dad as often as I would like.
