Carl Robins, the new recruiter for ABC,Inc. was to hire new trainees for ABC, Inc. He successfully recruited 15 new trainees for the company in spite of only being at his new job for only six months. This was a huge accomplishment for Carl. In early April, Carl gave his word to Monica Carrolls, the Operations Supervisor, that he would have the new trainees ready for orientation on June 15. Carl had two months to achieve his goal. As June 15 approaches, Carl realizes that he does not have all of the correct paper filed for the new hires like: completed applications, transcripts’, or completed drug test. On top of all of the different issues, Carl finds out the room he has reserved is booked for the whole month of June. Frustrated and confused Carl does not know what to do. As June 15 reaches near, Carl is faced with time management, frustration, and recruitment.

Background

This case study identifies issues involved with time management, planning, and research. This analysis will focus on the main issues that could affect the company’s start time. Carl’s task was not difficult. The key issue is research. The problem centers on time management and planning.

Key Problems

One of the main problems that were identified was the lack of experience Carl has at recruiting. The key problem is that Operations Supervisor Monica Carrolls needs to evaluate employee’s performance before giving out any task. Supervisors must assure that employees know what their responsibilities are and what is expected of them. Generally, employees welcome clarity about assignments, deadlines, priorities, and overall goal. In this case Carl did not ask questions about the task at hand.
