Discuss Coke and Pepsi's current situation.

Cola sales seem to have platitude. The market and the consumers seem to want other products, which the cola industries have achieved, such as coffee, teas, and waters. Pepsi and Coke are still engrossed in the Cola wars and I think they will be for a long time to come. Because of the slowdown in consumers purchasing pure "cola" products, both Coke and Pepsi have made attempts and are succeeding in other forms, such as bottlers, distribution, and also rival brands.

Coke has been the leader in the cola wars since they created cola products. Pepsi followed Coke which helped both companies achieve success. As a leader in Japan coke was smart enough to introduce vending machines into the industry. In the beginning of the Cola wars, Coke was the first to introduce their products overseas. This was a major contributor of their success considering it had not been previously done. As a follower of Coke, Pepsi benefited from this as the Arabs and Soviets excluded Coke in their countries.

As a leader in the cola industry, Pepsi helped to compete against Coke which helped both companies thrive. Pepsi seemed to focus their sites on India and connected with the most prominent businessman which increased their growth. One smart thing that Pepsi did was realize that they and Coke could not continue to fight in every market. Therefore, they focused on markets that were untouched. One large industry success that Pepsi achieved was the Pepsi challenge. Although the Pepsi challenge first began in 1974, the competition and the "brand" of the Pepsi challenge can still be remembered today.
