Management Planning Paper

The success of a business needs all levels of management to have the abilities and skill to manage a combined an untold amount of unexpected situations. I was once told that, “Failure to plan is planning to fail”. Effective planning will unravel and avoid problems as well as improve decision making. Planning is the manner by which the company turns its ideas and task into plans of action that responds to the desires of shareholders, clients, and personnel ( Robinson 2004). Successful companies have proven to have good management planning due to their level of success and how they are able to overcome unexpected situations. This paper will outline Halliburton’s approach to effective planning.

Halliburton is an oil and gas equipment and services corporation. The company was founded in 1919 by Erie P. Halliburton. The company has dual headquarters located in Houston and in Dubai. Halliburton employ over 55,000 people in over 70 countries. Their stated vision is “To be welcomed as a good corporate neighbor in our communities; to do no harm to the environment; to provide demonstrable social and economic benefits through sustainable relationships, sustainable technology and sustainable sourcing; and to validate our progress through transparency and reporting" (Halliburton, 2011).  The Company offers a variety of services and products for the exploration, development, and production of oil and natural gas around the world (Halliburton, 2011). Halliburton's major business segment is the Energy Services Group (ESG). ESG provides technical products and services for petroleum and natural gas exploration and production (Halliburton, 2011).
