1. Identify the five phases of the training process model (TPM); explain fully the process that goes on in each of the phases.

Needs analysis Phase: The analysis phase begins with the identification of the organizational performance gap. If the gap determines a lack of employee knowledge and skills, then training objectives are established to address the training needs. Data is then gathered pertaining to the deficiencies then analyzed to set the importance of each deficiency.

Other notable performance gaps include lack of employee motivation, organizational budget and equipment which must be excluded from the KSA because these areas of gaps do not require training. A needs assessment is also used to address organization changes that will occur at a future time,

Training managers use the results of the needs assessment to set training objectives to determine who may need training and what type of training is to be developed. Sometimes training is not the solution. Many performance gaps eliminated by s communicating organizational expectations, providing a supportive work environment, arranging consequences, removing barriers and making sure employees are the right fit for the job.

Design Phase: Once the needs assessment and training objectives are clearly identified and completed, the design phase of the training and development process is initiated. Decisions reading course content, the goals and objectives of the course, delivery methods and strategies are made for implementing the training process. The design phase also identified factors to be included in the training to facilitate learning and how this training will be used on the job. Trainers will need alternative methods of instruction, how much training will be needed and how the training will be structured.
