Paradise Business Scenario

Chris Morales owns a company called Prileo Home Care. This company provides in-home care to the elderly and the disabled. He has several branches throughout the world, and is considering establishing a presence in Kava, located in the South Pacific. “At Prileo Home Care, our goal is to provide quality, compassionate, non-medical assistance for seniors to remain comfortable and independent wherever they call home” (Mission Statement, 2010). Due to all the disasters plaguing Kava, the cheap resources, and the quality labor, I believe that Prileo Home Care will prove to be a very lucrative presence. It is my job to create a plan for my company about how to achieve a greater presence in Kava.

Organizational Processes

According to John Wiley, “organizing, like planning, must be a carefully worked out and applied process. This process involves determining that work is needed to accomplish a goal, assigning those tasks to individuals, and arranging those individuals in a decision-making framework (organizational structure)” (Wiley, 2011). Due to the high possibility of disastrous threats and the previous occurrences of disasters on the island, I would assume that there is an awfully large amount of disabled people. In order to get out there and begin rendering the necessary care to these people in need, the Kava branch of Prileo Home Care must be extremely organized. I am going to need to educate myself on the local laws and regulations regarding home care in the area. Due to the presence of governmental services, community based organizations, and faith based groups, more than likely there will also be different funding avenues to explore. As the key stakeholders to this business, we need to ensure that the elderly and the disabled receive the best care that we can provide, and this is done through education on the system.
