Upgrading Oracle E-Business Suite for the Financial and Supply Chain Needs of
Unisource Energy
Description
The purpose of this document is to discuss the solution of upgrading the Financial and Supply Chain modules of the Oracle E-Business Suite from version 11.5.7 to the more current version of R12 (12.0.6). Departments that use financial data and procedures and supply chain functionality will use these new modules. Another important solution is upgrading the Reporting tool, Discoverer, from version 3.1 to 10g, which will make it more accessible to most business areas.
Overview
As of May 2007 Oracle no longer supports the Oracle E-Business Suite version that Unisource Energy (UES) currently uses. Any application patches and updates as well as database and security patches and updates are unavailable, which prevents the implementation of any new Internet-based applications (iSourcing and iSupplier Portal).

By keeping the applications and systems current, restrictions will not hamper other upgrades and changes to hardware, operating systems, etc. The new functionality offered with this new version will keep up with the pace of business change, provide current training and support for several years, and facilitate a better migration to Oracle Fusion in the future.
Proposal

Because these components offer new and more robust functionality, the team can eliminate several old customizations, processes, and applications. This list includes:...
