In all the history of religion Jesus and Mohammad are looked upon as the most influential people and have shaped the course of history. Christianity and Islam are currently the largest religions with more than one billion following each respectively. Jesus and Mohammed have a lot of similarities and differences which is related in their respective religions. The influence and the religious experiences these men share has influenced our way of living. The deaths of Jesus and Mohammed have also influenced their religions. With the many differences and similarities they both convey, there is no other religions as big as Christianity and Islam. It is important to take a look at the lives these two men lived and how they have influenced religion today.

Historically, we encounter reports of miraculous events before and upon the birth of both leaders. Within the Bible of Christianity, Jesus was born of woman but conceived of God; this was called the virgin birth. Little is known about Jesus’ childhood in Nazareth (Fisher, 2005). However, there are records of Jesus traveling to Jerusalem at age of twelve. Later in life Jesus was executed by the Romans at the request of the religious leaders because they felt Jesus to be radical (How did the Life of Jesus Impact the World). Then according to the bible Jesus arose from the dead three days later, in which he ascended to heaven.

In Mohammed’s life he received the revelations from Allah, who is referred to as God. The revelations were recorded and are in the Qur’an which is the holy text of the Islamic religion (Fisher, 2005). Mohammed was born into a poor clan; his clan however was one of the most powerful tribes. Mohammed’s father had passed before his birth. Later Mohammed’s mother and grandfather also passed away so he went and lived with his uncle. He then worked as a shepherd and then later married a woman who was wealthy.
