Research methodology:

Introduction:

In any research project research method and the proposed data analysis are very crucial. The fundamental components of the research should be addressed by the methodology. The methodology is a qualitative study, and then may continue to evolve over the course of the investigation. In order to be the research methodology good the researcher should be trained in observation techniques, interview strategies and any other means of data collection procedures. The researcher should be very familiar with the previous research so that he will have an idea about what kind of data to be extracted and separate the important information with the unimportant information.

“Is distance learning as effective as face to face learning in technology department of Eastern Illinois University?” is our research topic and after careful study of the topic we considered phenomenological study of the qualitative approach is the best way to approach and conduct a research.

The term phenomenological refers to a person’s perception of the meaning of an event, as opposed to the event as it exits external to the person. In phenomenological study we try to study people’s perceptions, perspectives, and understandings of the situation. Here we try to study the difference of opinions of the students on distance learning and the face to face learning.

In phenomenological study even the researcher should experience the situation. All three of us has the experience of both face to face and distance learning i.e. learning through online for almost two semesters. The purpose of our research methodology is conduct interviews with unstructured questions with as many people as we can. The problem we faced while doing the research is that not many are interested to spend their quality time with us.
