Stop 1:

The geologic structure of the steep hill is a fault scarp.

Springs tend to occur at fault because water is trapped within the Earth that eventually pushes upwards.

Spring Dr. is geologically significant because it doesn’t rain for 6 months but the springs/drains are active not from the runoffs but because of the water stored beneath the Earth that eventually pushes upwards.

The AP Act is not in compliance with homes 25583 and 25299 on Spring Dr.

Stop 2:

The old quarry has rock structures, steep hills, 2 different types of rocks, horizontal directions of rocks and shatters that suggests faulting.

The history that the gabbro tells us is that the two different rocks were smashed together. The gray-greenish looking rock, gabbro, was a component of the seafloor as the other rock it clashed with was volcanic rock. Tectonics pushed this seafloor upwards where it stands now and this site is the evidence of tectonics.

The garage at 932 appears crooked

The foundation of the house to the west of 932 was shifted because the house was built on a piece of Earth that moves so the structure moves apart as well.

Stop 3:

There is a right lateral offset.

75mm of offset has occurred.

The weird instrument pole is called a creep meter that monitors movement of the tectonic plates.

Stop 4:

The knee-high free-standing wall offset is more than the other walls because its placed on the other side of the tectonic plate therefore, it has a bigger shift.

It has a right lateral offset.

The horizontal offset of this free-standing wall is 420mm in 77 years.

The rate of movement of the Hayward fault is 5.45 mm/year

The playground wall offset is right lateral

The amount of offset in the playground wall is 5mm/year

Stop 5:

The apartments are built on the fault line

No, it doesn’t comply with the AP Act.

Disturbances we see are fault scarps, cracks on the windows, cracks around the area, trenches,

Stop 6:

Broken...
