Abstract

This paper aims at the management considerations related with the restructuring of the technical manpower in the aviation industry to make effective use of human resources available and absorb new technologies. The addition of “Hi-Tech” systems in aviation industry necessitated increase in operational efficiency through optimum utilization of available human resource. Aviation industry is dynamic in structure which is open for improvement and expansion. It has flexibility to adapt new technologies and renew itself. But at the same time, the new market opportunities, competitive threats, and diffusion of business models associated with globalization have been key drivers of organizational restructuring in aviation industry.

The paper addresses the organizational structure of technical department of aviation industry in general and focuses managerial considerations of restructuring specific to PAF. The induction of new technology in aviation industry necessitated restructuring of technical manpower for its effective utilization. Various industries in the field have responded to these developments in a variety of ways with the objective of improving their cost and/or revenue structures through reorganizing their vertical, horizontal, and spatial boundaries and governance mechanisms.
