Unit 1: Investigating how Business Work

Introduction to my project

Sainsbury's and Dominoes

I decided to choose Sainsbury's for my national business. I believe this to be a good business to study because they are a well-known company and it has many goods and services to offer e.g. nectar cards, Sainsbury's bank, pet insurance etc and their Sainsbury's basic range, Be good to yourself products etc.

Sainsbury's also has a good reputation and is well known worldwide and offer many goods and services e.g. Sainsbury's online and Sainsbury's bank. They also have a Sainsbury's finance, which includes pet insurance, home insurance, easy saver and Sainsbury's credit card. As Sainsbury's has so much to offer I thought it would be interesting to explore into each of these topics individually so I can have a better understanding of Sainsbury's as a popular supermarket.

To carry out my research I am going to use the Internet and use Websites to find out the information needed for my project. As I normally shop in Sainsbury's I could ask the manager of my local Sainsbury's any questions regarding the running of Sainsbury's. This would be very useful because I will be getting first hand information and I would know it would be accurate and reliable.

I have decided to study Dominoes, Sidcup for my local business. I believe this to be a good business to study, because as I live locally I can see what goods and services they provide and get some first- hand information. They also have their own website, which would be very helpful to obtain vital information in order to complete my report. My family sometimes order from Dominoes so I am familiar with the quality of their pizzas and about their goods (pizzas) and services they provide (delivering to your home). Dominoes also provide leaflets of the different products they supply and if they are adding a new product to the menu.
