Many people underestimate the importance of teamwork. While many people undertake their journey solo, we live most of our lives engaged in large group activities. The scenery of this group can vary from playing games with family, being part of a group at a sports outing or working within a group of co-workers. We work in groups for reasons, not only to accomplish a task but to gain personal growth, or to influence people around us. When a team is not working together as in the case study with nurse B groups it can end in disaster. In this paper I am going to explain what nurse B group can do to make their team run smoother like nurse A group.

Nurse B explains that when working with the surgical team she wants to slash her wrist. The team cannot get along, and the nurses have to run after things during the surgery that were missing during set up. If they observe something during the surgery that was wrong or incorrect they need to wait till the correct time to address it with the surgeon assistants. (Johnsons, 2009)

There are many things that need to be addressed within the situation described in this case study. We will start with setting of the surgery room. With many surgeries conducted in those rooms that each one has to have it own pre-surgery check list of supplies that is need. It is clear that whoever is setting up the room or equipment for the surgery is forgetting things that can be necessary to save someone life. The nurse in charge needs to be following up and making sure that everything is ready to go. If something is missing then it is their responsibility to make sure the error is corrected and doesn’t happen again. If the issue continues to happen then disciplinary action must be taken or there may be a training opportunity.
