1. Describe the importance of employee benefits as a strategic component of fulfilling the goals of HRM at Genentech and Zappos

Offering a satisfied benefit package for employees can lower turnover and higher their productivity.

A satisfied employee, receiving everything he wanted while working in a respectful company won’t never worry about seeking another job, and on top of it, he will become loyal and more productive.

High Salary is not the only benefit employee wants when looking to occupy a new job. His worries and ambition goes beyond the financial gain a company can provide.

Offering childcare or flexible work scheduling could be more meaningful for working parents, as well as insurance coverage. On-site lunches and sending employees home dinners work could be a grace for a single worker at the end of the day, who have to worry about spending money to eat at night or even don’t feel like making diner after a long day at work. Depending, on the employee way of life, marital status benefits can be seen differently. Genetech and Zappos took in consideration while evaluating their benefits package all categories of workers: single moms, nursing moms, single persons... and provided lots of benefits that respond to the needs and satisfaction of all of them.

Employee’s benefits urge worker to work harder to show gratitude for the company that’s making everything to please its employees.

Treating employees with respect, appreciate their work and reward hard workers go hand in hand with employee’s overall satisfaction and how loyal he become to the company he is working for.

Despite the high cost the company will have while offering wide range of benefits, it will be beneficial in contrast for the firm as well, by higher productivity and lowering employee’s turnover.
