World Mythology

A popular definition of myth is an established or well-known story, most likely regarding a human, event, or a hero. A myth can be with or without something determining the base of fact or natural reason, generally one that is concerned with deities or demigods and explains some practice, phenomenon, or rite. Myths typically attempt to answer questions about the fundaments of life. In my own words I would say a myth is a story with a significant meaning attached commonly involving someone or something supernatural. Myths describe large events that have happened to individuals due to the choices they have made, such as: achieving something great, tragedy, being scared, foolish, or frightened, or being honored for great actions. Myths can be hard to distinguish whether they are fact or fiction due to the extreme events taken place in some sayings.

Myths around the world address the same cultural similar or universal themes because most myths are about the ending of the world, beginning of the world, or the meaning of life. Myths generally involve events like these because no matter what people’s backgrounds are the beginning and ending of life is extremely important also the cause of conflict to nature of humans is the same around the entire world. Myths help humans to make order out of trouble or explain situations in nature when humans cannot grasp the concept of what is happening. Myths were evolved long ago, they were stories told by Greeks, Egyptians, and Jews about each other’s lives that became outlandish and turned into myths. Myths may have been considered science in the olden days since it helped humans figure out what was going on with problems.
