Emotional stress and Physical health

Turn the science of stress toward healing

Emotions change the way we see the world.

1. How do you define work-life balance? Specific components?

Work, friends, family, self – Achievement and enjoyment in all areas

2. How has the notion of balance shifted over time and how has that impacted people and organizations?

Emotions and disease were assumed for so long. Emotions do have something to do with disease and their needs to be balance.

Belief and healing.

Emotions and disease are real. The language of science. Scientists need data to measure if it’s real. Things have changed over time though in the way the scientists measure and see things in order to gather evidence.

Until recently scientists dismissed this argument as nonsense because they could not find a link.

3. What triggers your increased level of stress? What specific strategies have you used to manage your stress? How could you bring these successes into your workplace?

Stress was coined in the 1950’s as a medical word

Physical activity

Belief and healing.

Perception of events triggers stress

Positive attitude

Breathing is tied to your emotions

Taking a break. Take off line. She didn’t stop and burned herself out.

What can one due to get back to balance? To relieve cronic stress.

Social support, healthy diet, rest.

Find a place of peace. Stop, look and listen.

Meditation?

Yoga

Physcotherapy

Car analogy and the routine service.

Go to that peaceful place every day

Devote to going off-line

4. What intrigued you most about Esther Sternberg’s ideas?

The scientific research is new. It’s science that forgot that has established the connection between beliefs and emotions. This study started with scientific facts. Back in the day science didn’t have the tools to measure. We didn’t have the tools until just recently to analyze how our bodies actually function.
