Burnout

To come to the stage where you have burned out is a pretty rough stage. “Burnout is a state of emotional, mental, and physical exhaustion caused by excessive and prolonged stress.” (Smith, Segal & Segal, 2011) This can occur when one person has taken on too many responsibilities and has just been overwhelmed. Once a person has been burned out, they start to lose their interests and start to get run down and not care so much about the important things. Eventually they might become depressed if nothing is done.

Causes

Some individual causes of burnout can be taking on too much at a job. If a person feels like they are responsible to do more than one task, and just keeps taking on more, then their body might start to reject these tasks and start to shut down. With this, the person may show less effort. A cultural burnout can include the war, currently going on right now. So many cultures have many different ideas on how to handle situations, and with this being said, wars can occur. Everybody thinks they are right and they do not care about other people and what they have to offer or say. Sticking to your own facts, such as the United States for example, a country can even get burned out. With this, the countries people become affected and get stressed out. This can eventually lead to more burnouts for individuals because it is just one more stressor added to their lifestyle. An organizational burnout can be referred to someone losing something. Without organization, people can easily get stressed out, especially if the person is usually a very organized person. Continuously looking for things, along with lives daily routines can really stress someone out and eventually burn them out. Supervisory burnouts can happen when a supervisor has taken on too much of a work load due to the lack of staff. Staying at work every night to finish up work the staff has lacked upon is not a good way to...
