Comparing and contrasting, as well as using definitions will be applicable to my paper. All three will play an important part in helping me get my point across as I try to persuasive the reader. The topic that I have chosen for my essay is “Renting an apartment is a better option than buying a home”. I intend to persuade the reader that buying a home is actually a better option than renting an apartment. Comparing and contrasting will play a vital part because in order to make your point for which is best between renting or buying, you must compare the two and decide which makes one better than the other and why. I must find the positives in buying and explain to my readers why they are important when deciding between the two. I will try not to be bias about my opinion although it will be hard not to when trying to persuade the reader. I will find facts for both and simply build a stronger case for my opinion. One way to do this will be to focus on the many negatives of renting apartment and the many upsides of buying and owning a home.

When writing any kind of essay, it is extremely important that the reader understands the point or points the writer will be trying to get across as well as the meaning of everything the writer is explaining. This is why a definition essay is so helpful and important. A definition essay is defined as an essay that defines a word, term, or concept by providing a personal commentary on what the specific subjects mean. Although, I do not think the use of definition will really be needed or required for this essay, it is still one way to keep the reader interested should there be words or phrases used that is not familiar to the reader and does not have a dictionary or thesaurus on hand. Making sure the writing is clear and it is always explained in detail goes a long way with the reader as well.
