The movie “The Social Network” had many concepts within that related to small business entrepreneurship class. The “Social Network” known as Facebook today started off as a small company at one school and began expanding into what eventually became a multi billion dollar industry. The movie shows what the entrepreneurs of Facebook had to go through in starting the business as well as portrayed the problems that arose.

Zuckerberg, the main character of the movie is a true entrepreneur. Ideas would come to him, and he, being good at computers, would create these ideas on the web. One of his earlier ideas that was a success at his college was facesmash. This was a website where they put up womens pictures and allowed people to rank them by voting on who was hotter. The more votes you had the higher the rank. This along with an idea from three people from Harvard to create a site called coursematch.com that would allow you to post your classes so friends could see and pick the same class, led to the creation of Facebook.

When the company started, Zuckerberg needed funding so he turned to his friend and asked for some start up capital. He got the money and let his friend become a part of the company, giving him the financial part within it. As the company grew, more money was needed to expand the company. Eventually the small business grew and ownership of the company went out to investors. For example the company received an angel investment of $500,000 to continue with their project.

In the beginning stages of the company, Zuckerberg worked his butt off. He did hours upon hours of coding and programming to get the website up and running. Overtime the site expanded from college to college as more colleges became allowed to access the site. With each new college, success was found as students flocked to use the site.
