How do freedoms hold you responsible?

Freedom and responsibility are two of the main pillars which make up society. However, what is freedom and how does responsibility play a crucial role in maintaining these freedoms? In society, freedom and responsibility allows one to express themselves, at the same time be held accountable for there actions. As a result freedom and responsibility are like counter weights for one another. In Mountains Beyond Mountains, the author Tracy Kidder depicts an individual who chooses to better society out of responsibility to help people. People have the freedom to choose an education, and they must, like Paul Farmer, fulfill the responsibilities expected of that discipline.

                We have all heard the old saying “with great power, comes great responsibility.” In this country we are given certain freedoms such as freedom of speech, religion, and assembly, just to name few. These are freedoms that were given to the citizens of the United States since the first drafting of the constitution. Since then other freedoms have come about, one of which is freedom of education. Freedom of education permits society to better itself along with the individuals within in that community.

        A society is made up of many individuals; therefore we must all use sound judgment when we express our understanding of freedom. We have the freedom to choose education. In my education, I have chosen to study Biology with the intent of becoming a pediatrician. After fulfilling my education, my responsibility is to help and ensure a healthy lifestyle for children. Children need to be educated in a healthy lifestyle because they are the future of our country. Children today are surrounded by Happy Meals and sugar filled drinks which is leading them to unhealthy eating habits.
